DailyC ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data DailyC collects, how it is processed, and your rights.
DailyC is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not require an account, we do not collect personal information, and all food log data is stored locally on your device. The only data transmitted from your device is the text of your food descriptions, which is sent to a third-party AI service solely to estimate calorie content.
Food descriptions (transmitted to a third party): When you log food via voice or text input, the text of what you said or typed is sent from your device to our backend server hosted on Vercel (vercel.com), which then forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API (anthropic.com) to estimate calorie content. This text may contain descriptions of food you ate, including quantities and meal details. This data is used solely to return a calorie estimate to you. Our server does not log or store your food descriptions. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Usage Policy. Per Anthropic's API data policy, data sent through their API is not used to train their models.
Voice data: When you use voice input, speech-to-text conversion is performed entirely on-device by Apple's built-in speech recognition framework. Raw audio is never transmitted to DailyC's servers or any third party. Only the resulting text transcription is sent for calorie estimation as described above.
Local data (never transmitted): Your daily calorie budget, food log entries (food name, portion, calorie amount), and historical tracking data are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to DailyC, Anthropic, or any other service.
Onboarding inputs (never transmitted): During initial setup, you may enter your weight, height, age, sex, activity level, and goal to calculate a suggested daily calorie budget. This information is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server.
